Know this by heart? WTF!?!?

So I've been busy, shoot me. (Please don't) LOL.

Anyways I started thinking about intelligence in general, myself included and how stupid we, as humans, can truly be.

Now I'm desperately trying not to go on a religious rage here even though I don't really have a problem with 90% of the religious people I have met and I was raised religious... Am still VERY good friends with religious people... But still.... lets move on.

So you've heard and have used the phrase "Know it By heart". Yes. You have. Do not lie to me. If you post in the comments that you have never heard or used it then you are 99% likely to be feeding me falsehoods and in general terms talking out of your ass. So that phrase originated with the Egyptians (This is not wikipedia do your own fucking research). It was assumed that the heart did all the thinking. In fact when they embalmed people they REMOVED the brain and put stuffing in the head. The idea that you could learn something by heart is just plain stupid. Stupid from like fucking before your nation was probably founded. Stupid like the earth is flat. Stupid like this girl I met who argues for the sake of making people depressed. Yet still I have used this phrase. My KID used this phrase the other day!

WHERE DID YOU LEARN THAT?!?!?!?!?!??!?

Seriously... I know a shit load of stuff about neuroscience and learning something by heart is just ludicrous.

Let me elaborate slightly: Every time you do something you set off a chain reaction. Do something enough and the chain reaction becomes fluent and faster. Do something overtly and it becomes subconscious.... Well that's kind of lying now isn't it.

Technically that only applies to mental tasks. Physical tasks can be actually be learned entirely by your spine and use NO brain processes. (Spine is misleading too.... Sorry I was having a conversation about GRBs the other day and got Screamed at for using bad language even though everyone who fucking researches Gamma Ray Bursts knows wtf a GRB is and never in their life would they be talking about minor gamma rays emitted from lightning... Nonetheless we reconciled and things are good now but now I have this quirk for expressing myself accurately which is quite impossible... I mean look at that last sentence)

Moving on.

So now I have this mental code I have decided to execute like 1000 times a day. I think about everything I just said and Google anything I think may be overtly misleading and generally false. (OMG I so want to go into why some dude will wait til years after so and so's death to write some BS story about how the guy was a miracle worker in a time with no cameras. All you have to do is write it and it will be true... Fuck it worked for Joseph Smith right? Egads.... I'm Am totally side tracked for no apparent reason.) [Note to future readers... you can probably ignore anything in () since I'm usually just ranting inside those mysterious curved devices.]

Yeah. So now I am trying to say Know it By Brain and Know it by Spine. And people look at me like I have 3 heads. Come on. Its like 2007 and shit and you can stop telling me the most important thing I need to know today is what the weather will be tomorrow, who won last nights big sports game, who is in the lead for the republican party or any other such BS. There is a ton of ACTUAL useful things you could know and none of them seem to be in the small talk people throw at me on a daily basis. So then I have to EXPLAIN why the phrase, "Know it By Spine" is practical and meaningful and out of all the fucking idiots I talk to I finally talk to this one guy who seems to have a bone for philosophy who says,

"Well when I hear or use the phrase know it by heart, it means to me that is of the utmost importance to my survival. It means to me that every time my heart beats I should be thinking and reiterating this one thought pattern."

So of course I asked him if he knew the 7s table by heart or by brain. LOL. He started to get the gist BUT so did I. We took this old saying which is obviously ridiculous and gave it a modern meaning for the Sole purpose of continuing to use it or to have something we could relate to and to carry on from our ancestors?

I'm not sure.

But the whole I know it by heart shit stops with me. It will now be know it by brain or know it by spine. End of sermon. (Ahhh fuck it... a little parentheses never hurt anyone.)

(My main argument with religion is put succinctly: In order to explain us and our origins religion invents something more complex without ever answering the question. To say we were created by god because something cannot come from nothing is circular and avoidance logic. When I couple this with the word of god written decades after his death by people who claim to be the only eyewitnesses I have to see fame and money as the driving forces rather then an accurate portrayal of a miracle. To further this we are talking about the hand written text of a 1st century human prone to delusions that the world is flat and that the sun rotates around us and not vice versa. Finally the bible contradicts itself way to often and I regard Jesus our lord and saviour and his father as well as Allah and all other man made gods as the adult version of santa claus.

And mind your manners. I still say prayers every night with my kids. I was raised religious and it worked for me. (I credit my religious upbringing for giving me Atheism and I thank god for that. ROFL).
